Raising Gifted Children

Being a parent is a joy and a challenge. Parenting gifted children sometimes includes extra challenges due to the high activity level or sensitivity of the children, or due to challenges and difficulties at school.

As a parent you are concerned if the child's needs will be met, or if the child is doing all right – at home, at school or out in the world. Coming to terms with these concerns is an important part of parenthood, but at times parenting the gifted includes so many questions and unknowns that the concern becomes a burden – and then it becomes less easy to support your child.

The course is meant as an introduction to how focusing will enable you to regroup your resources. Simple mindfulness techniques will be practiced in order to help you find the balance and serenity that enables you to stay focused on the task at hand.

We all deal with parenting in different ways, but listening to the experience of others sometimes gives us useful inspiration on how to proceed. The group will be rather small, but allowing you to meet other parents in the same situation.

Subjects covered by the course: what is mindfulness, giftedness, underachievement and high sensitivity.
Why parenting gifted children need specific tools.
We will explore how meditation and other techniques will help you stay balanced when interacting with your child, when facing school etc.

Giftedness is not what you do or how hard you work.
It is WHO YOU ARE:
You think differently. You experience life intensely. You care about injustice. You seek meaning. You appreciate and strive for the exquisite. You are painfully sensitive. You are extremely complex. You cherish integrity. Your truth-telling has gotten you in trouble. Should 98% of the population find you odd, seek the company of those who love you just the way you are.
You are NOT broken. You do NOT need to be fixed.
You’re utterly fascinating.
Trust yourself.”
